EthStorage 2022 Yearly Report
Hello EthStorage supporters!
2022 was the year EthStorage was introduced and we have had a lot of progress developing and spreading the word about EthStorage. For those who don’t know about EthStorage, here is the short introduction.
What is EthStorage?
EthStorage is a layer 2 solution that provides programmable dynamic storage based on Ethereum’s data availability. EthStorage will greatly reduce the storage cost of storing a large amount of data on Ethereum, saving the cost of 1% to 0.1%. The low cost of storing large data by EthStorage can better enable a fully decentralized network in the future. EthStorage is highly integrated with EVM and is compatible with Solidity, Remix, Hardhat, and MetaMask. The team received a research grant from the Ethereum Foundation for data availability research.
EthStorage 2022 Summary
EthStorage received a data availability research grant from Ethereum Foundation.
Data Availability (DA) is the key technology to enable Ethereum scalability, and we will work closely with the researchers from the Ethereum Foundation on the important topics of DA. One interesting topic the team is working on is the efficient algorithm for data recovery based on Danksharding. Qi Zhou, EthStorage’s founder, proposed an efficient algorithm that could increase the performance by ~4x based on Danksharding encoding.

Proposed EIP-4804: Web3 URL to EVM Call Message translation
EthStorage proposed the EIP-4804/W3IP-1 “Web3 URL to EVM Call Message Translation which is a translation of an HTTP-style Web3 URL to an EVM call message. Currently, reading data from Web3 relies mainly on Web3 proxy to Web3 blockchain. The translation is mostly done by the proxies such as dApp websites/node service provider/etherscan, which are out of the control of users. The standard here aims to provide a simple way for Web2 users to access the content of Web3 directly. Moreover, this standard enables interoperability with other standards already compatible with URIs, like SVG.

Qi Zhou, the Founder of EthStorage, Became a Member of Forbes Technology Council (Link)
Qi Zhou became a member of Forbes Technology Councils — a platform to reach/educate more international audiences about Web3 technologies including Ethereum, data availability, sharding, Web3:// access protocol, EthStorage.io, etc
This is an invite-only organization and only respected tech leaders are selected for the council based on their deep knowledge and diverse experience in the industry.
