EthStorage Founder Qi Zhou Attended DECODE And Gave A Keynote Speach
As one of the main events of San Francisco Blockchain Week (SFBW), the Decode Innovation Conference was held on Nov. 5–6 at the UC Berkeley campus in Santa Clara, South Bay. DECODE is the largest technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship community jointly hosted with UC Berkeley and Stanford student organizations, alumni networks, and entrepreneurship centers. Its mission is to DECODE the future of work and bridge academia with industry by creating an open community for creators.
The DECODE conference has attracted many top technology companies in Silicon Valley to attend, including Google, Meta, Amazon, etc. The invited speakers include Jack McCauley, Co-founder of Oculus VR, Keith Enright, Chief Privacy Officer of Google, and Karin Kimbrough, Chief Economist of LinkedIn, and professors from Stanford and UC Berkeley, such as Richard Lyons, Chief Innovation and Entrepreneurship Officer of UC Berkeley, etc.
Dr. Zhou, the founder of EthStorage, was invited by the organizers of DECODE to introduce the problems and real dilemmas currently faced by the Web3 industry.
Based on years of experience in the Web3 field, Dr. Zhou holds a deep view of the current development. In his speech, he mentioned that the recent growth of decentralized applications such as DeFi, NFT, and GameFi has dramatically created attention to and discussion of Web3. One key feature of Web3 is decentralized compared to the current Web2, which is controlled by a few centralized companies such as Facebook, and Google. However, when 99% of the users interact with the blockchain, one critical problem shows up: the dApp servers / node service providers are centralized. These points aroused strong approval and heated discussions among the participants from Meta, Google, and other top tech companies.
To solve this problem, Dr. Zhou proposed a solution for the future of Web3: an End-to-End Fully Trustless Decentralized Web. He mentioned that EthStorage, which focuses on solving Ethereum’s dynamic storage problem, can provide a layer-2 solution of programmable storage at a lower storage cost based on the data availability (DA) technologies of Ethereum. The team has received grant support from the Ethereum Foundation this year to help Ethereum carry out research work in the direction of DA. The first version of the EthStorage testnet has gone live and is in an intensive testing phase.
About EthStorage
EthStorage is a layer 2 solution that provides programmable dynamic storage based on Ethereum’s data availability. EthStorage will greatly reduce the storage cost of storing a large amount of data on Ethereum, saving the cost of 1% to 0.1%. The low cost of storing large data by EthStorage can better enable a fully decentralized network in the future. EthStorage is highly integrated with EVM and is compatible with Solidity, Remix, Hardhat, and MetaMask. The team received a research grant from the Ethereum Foundation for data availability research.
